Vancouver Networking for Tech Job Seekers

Start your week off right with tech job search tips! We will be discussing job search tips in the competitive tech field. Looking at employment trends in Vancouver/Portland along with finding the best ways to network. Resume/Cover Letter tips from experts in the field. Depending on the crowd, bringing in specific employers to discuss job openings and tips.

Are you already in tech, but looking for a new opportunity? Have you been out of tech for a while, but looking at getting back into it? Is tech something you would like to get into, but are overwhelmed with everything that is available? This group will help guide you in the right direction while networking with people in the same situation as yourself. This is an open group where job searching and networking are one in the same. As most of us know, its not always what you know, but who you know. People are always asking me what is the best way to find a job in tech? The response is always the same. I tell them that they need to be out talking to people, networking. As a professional in the industry, I can often find out who is hiring, but that doesn't mean that I can get someone an interview. That often comes with knowing someone or having a killer resume that gets through the ATS systems. This group is going to help you navigate through the process while meeting people that "may know someone" in a company that you want to work for or transition into.

Second Thursday of every month.

Each month The Bridge hosts an open coffee for local entrepreneurs in the area. It is simply a time to meet other great people doing things just like you. People that have a passion to build a business and create some things that will shape our future.

There is no direct agenda for the meetup. We do take a quick welcome moment to welcome our new guests and sponsors and promote any other events in the region we think would be of interest to our group.

Please come ready to meet others and share about your current project and find out about other people building exciting things in our area.

P.S. The event is open to everyone as a part of our community but, I will caution that sales reps and networking marketers tend to find their conversations short and unproductive. We ask you to respect the purpose is to meet and share, not to sell.

Grow Clark County: Diversity Drives Innovation

It goes beyond gender, race, and ethnicity - it includes team members who bring different life experiences and point of views to the table, hold different educational, or socioeconomic backgrounds, political beliefs, and more. Join us at the next installment of CREDC's Grow Clark County event series to hear why diversity in the workplace is a benefit for both businesses and employees - and why having a diverse workplace is a vehicle to increase innovation, creativity, and profitability. You will also gain insight into how Clark County-based companies are creating a culture that fosters diversity within their own organizations.

Since its inception in 2015, Grow Clark County has showcased the broad range of businesses in the region, spotlighted the people behind them who are driving innovation and empowering connections with entrepreneurs pushing the local economy forward. Grow Clark County aims to help build connections and open opportunities for the business community from groundbreaking startups to thriving businesses looking to interact with other businesses and find resources that can help them achieve short- and long-term business goals.

Join us North of the wall for a night of bourbon, snacks and lively conversation with bourbon expert and author Eric Zandona. Eric literally wrote the book on bourbon (The Bourbon Bible and the Whiskey Dictionary).

Event Highlights

  • Short lecture by spirits expert Eric Zondona on all things bourbon (how it's made, how to read a label, how to taste it like a civilized whiskey drinking human)

  • Blind tasting of 6 hand selected bourbons (actually one's a rye, can you find it??)

  • Snacks to help you cleanse your palette between tastings

  • The reveal: Eric will reveal our mystery bourbons along with some history and flavor profile

There are a limited number of tickets, so don't procrastinate! For questions feel free to shoot us an email at joshiwata@gmail.com. Hope to see you on the 31st!

What to bring

(Optional) Business Cards, Resumes, Job Descriptions

Founders Caffeine Fix

Price: Free

Remembering Ryan Harter (Happy Hour)

In follow up to an overwhelmingly amazing memorial service from Ryan's family, we wanted to honor Ryan and his impact on this community by coming together for some drinks, memories and stories.

This event is open to everyone. We will be showing a video montage of some of Ryan's home videos, commercial work, and sketches. If you knew Ryan in any way, whether you had the privilege of working with him or maybe you met him at another happy hour or event around town (he was everywhere!), you are welcome to come grab a drink and share a story or experience you had with Ryan.

  • 6:00p - Doors Open

  • 6:30p - Video Montage

  • 7:00p - Open Mic

All proceeds will be given to Ryan's family.
