Pongtober Tech Tourney - Company Registration

DESCRIPTION

The "Pongtober Tech Tourney" is an annual ping-pong tournament designed to bring the tech community closer together while also melting faces with ninja-like backhand slams and spinny serves. Wow. Much Tech. Very Pong.

How does it work?

  • 8 tech companies from Vancouver will participate.

  • There will be four "in-house" games before the final event at Tandem Hall on 10/25/2018 at 5:30pm.

  • In-house games will be scheduled independently of the final event, company and venue assignments TBD.

  • The top player of the winning team and the top player of the losing team will move on as a "tribute" (hunger games style) to represent their company at the final event.

  • We'll respect house rules during the in-house games, though it is recommended that "by the book" rules are used during these games as we will be taking things a little more seriously during the final event.

  • Winner takes home a super-duper trophy and bragging rights until the next tourney.

Next Steps:

  • Once all 8 companies are registered, an organizer will reach out to your team's "coach" with details on scheduling your "in-house" game.

  • After your in-house game is completed, coaches will forward along results to an organizer.

  • Prior to the final event, you will receive an email with the bracket details, rules, etc.

  • JUST-SO-YA-KNOW... we plan on having an "open play" table at the final event as well so everyone can have some fun (:

Welcome to Silicon Forest

Welcome to Silicon Forest

Passionate About Growing Your Tech Company in Silicon Forest?  Join us for a Fall celebration to learn more about the growing tech scene in Vancouver!

Our region’s tech scene has its own identity, proving itself capable of supporting vibrant tech companies, raising real venture capital and asserting its place in today’s economy. It has a history of innovation with some of the large established companies that attracted tech talent in the first place, which has given way to emerging tech startups.

This event will celebrate the tech industry represented in the Vancouver/ SW Washington area. Whether you’re a tech company that helped to plant the Silicon Forest’s first seeds, one that has relocated or is establishing new roots by opening an office here, or an emerging tech startup, join us for food/ drinks and networking with tech companies that are choosing to move here. Connect with the resources available to tech companies here in the region. Let’s continue to support, engage and grow our tech community... and have some fun while we're at it!

Join us on Tuesday, October 30th to meet new tech in town and hear from valuable resources to get you moving.

The focus of this gathering is on supporting the technology community.  As such we will be limiting the service provider attendees to one non-tech service company per vertical.  Available service provider spots will be shown below. Please contact membership@techoregon.org with any questions.

Please come ready to meet others and share about your current project and find out about other people building exciting things in our area.

Vancouver Networking for Tech Job Seekers

Details

What we'll do

Start your week off right with tech job search tips! We will be discussing job search tips in the competitive tech field. Looking at employment trends in Vancouver/Portland along with finding the best ways to network. Resume/Cover Letter tips from experts in the field. Depending on the crowd, bringing in specific employers to discuss job openings and tips.

Are you already in tech, but looking for a new opportunity? Have you been out of tech for a while, but looking at getting back into it? Is tech something you would like to get into, but are overwhelmed with everything that is available? This group will help guide you in the right direction while networking with people in the same situation as yourself. This is an open group where job searching and networking are one in the same. As most of us know, its not always what you know, but who you know. People are always asking me what is the best way to find a job in tech? The response is always the same. I tell them that they need to be out talking to people, networking. As a professional in the industry, I can often find out who is hiring, but that doesn't mean that I can get someone an interview. That often comes with knowing someone or having a killer resume that gets through the ATS systems. This group is going to help you navigate through the process while meeting people that "may know someone" in a company that you want to work for or transition into.

Founders Caffeine Fix

Second Thursday of every month.

Each month The Bridge hosts an open coffee for local entrepreneurs in the area. It is simply a time to meet other great people doing things just like you. People that have a passion to build a business and create some things that will shape our future.

There is no direct agenda for the meetup. We do take a quick welcome moment to welcome our new guests and sponsors and promote any other events in the region we think would be of interest to our group.

Please come ready to meet others and share about your current project and find out about other people building exciting things in our area.

P.S. The event is open to everyone as a part of our community but, I will caution that sales reps and networking marketers tend to find their conversations short and unproductive. We ask you to respect the purpose is to meet and share, not to sell.
